Artist's Description
Herman in the Lab Vintage Photo colorized by Franchi Torres. One interesting fact about Herman Munster, the character played by Fred Gwynne on the television show "The Munsters," is that Gwynne was a skilled artist and painter. In addition to his acting career, Gwynne studied at the Art Students League of New York and later had a successful career as an illustrator and painter. He even had a number of solo exhibitions of his artwork.
In the original pilot episode of "The Munsters," Herman was played by actor Joan Marshall. However, the producers decided to recast the role and Fred Gwynne was eventually chosen to play Herman. In order to create the character's distinctive look, Gwynne had to wear heavy makeup and prosthetics, which took four hours to apply each day. As a result, Gwynne often fell asleep while the makeup artists worked on him, leading to the nickname "Sleepy Herman."
About Franchi Torres
I am a Mechanic Technologist turned photographer and digital artist. I specialize in restoring and colorizing old photos, as well as creating original digital art. I use photoshop to enhance the realism and beauty of my images, paying attention to skin tones and environmental details. My images can be printed on various products such as canvas, posters, towels, mugs, T-shirts, etc. My themes are very diverse, ranging from Hollywood stars to old cars, from rock stars to planes and trains. Restoring and coloring photographs makes me feel like I am traveling back in time and witnessing history firsthand.
