Mary LaForge-Little Nest was a Native American woman who was born around 1874 in Montana. She was the daughter of Mitch Bouyer and Magpie Outside, both of whom were mixed-race scouts for the US Army. Her father died at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876. She married Little Nest, a Crow chief, and lived on a reservation. She wore a Nez Perce style dress with beaded floral patterns.This is a restored and colorized portrait of Mary LaForge-Little Nest, a Native American woman who was the daughter of a mixed-race scout and the wife of a Crow chief. She lived on a reservation in Montana and wore a Nez Perce style dress with beaded floral patterns. The original black-and-white photo was taken in 1908 by Edward S. Curtis and is part of the National Museum of the American Indian collection. The restoration and colorization was done by Franchi Torres (FTimages) in March 2023, bringing new life and vibrancy to this historical image
